An Arlington police employee, Derreck Dean, faces charges of sexual assault and oppression, with investigations revealing unrecorded visits while on duty.

ARLINGTON, Texas — An Arlington police employee has been arrested on charges of sexual assault and oppression, according to the Arlington Police Department.

Police say 36-year-old Derreck Dean was taken into custody Friday by the department’s Fugitive Unit and booked into the Tarrant County Jail.

The investigation began after a report was filed on April 18, alleging Dean had inappropriate sexual contact with a woman he had first met during an earlier call for service. Police said they launched both criminal and administrative investigations, and Dean was placed on administrative leave on April 21, his next scheduled shift.

According to police, Dean first responded to a call at the woman’s home on April 11. Investigators later learned he returned there three times between the morning of April 17 and the early morning hours of April 18, including during the visit when the alleged sexual contact occurred. Police said Dean was on duty during those visits, and none of the return trips were in response to calls for service.

The department also said a review of Dean’s body-worn camera showed it was covered during all three visits.

Dean has worked for Arlington PD since 2016 and remains on administrative leave while the administrative investigation continues. Police said they are also looking into whether any other instances of misconduct may have occurred.

Anyone with additional information or allegations involving Dean is asked to contact the department.
