Jack Draper will be looking to go one step further at the US Open this year, after enjoying his best Grand Slam campaign at Flushing Meadows in 2024.

Draper advanced to the semi-finals last year without dropping a set throughout the tournament, before ultimately bowing out to eventual champion Jannik Sinner.

The Briton will be even more determined to bounce back in New York following his disappointing Wimbledon run, which ended abruptly in the second round.

However, he’ll now have to enter the US Open without featuring at a hard-court tune-up event, after he revealed an injury update on social media.

Draper took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to say: “After Wimbledon, I picked up an injury in my left arm.

“Nothing serious, but I have to make sure it recovers fully for the rest of the season. Unfortunately, I won’t be able to compete in Toronto and Cincinnati. See you in NYC!”

His run at the All England Club was short-lived, when after beating Sebastian Baez in the first round, he was knocked out by former finalist Marin Cilic in five sets.

It was yet another shocking result at the championships, which saw several seeded players bow out in the early rounds.

Draper entered the US Open as the 25th seed last season and got off to the perfect start with comfortable wins over Zhang Zhizhen and Facundo Diaz Acosta.

After beating Botic van de Zandschulp and Tomas Machac in rounds three and four, he came up against his first seeded opponent at the event.

He played 10th seed Alex de Minaur in the quarter-final, whom Draper defeated 6-3, 7-5, 6-2 to advance to a maiden Grand Slam semi-final.

In the final four, a red-hot sinner proved too much for the then-22-year-old, who lost in straight sets to the Italian.
