DALLAS — One Dallas man was charged with arson Saturday after he reportedly admitted to setting his own home on fire, Dallas Fire-Rescue said.
Officials say DFR units were called to the structure fire at 7:51 a.m. in the 7200 block of Rosemont Road.
Upon arrival at the one-story residence, DFR said firefighters reported fire coming from the back of the home. They began an offensive attack and declared the fire out by 8:21 a.m.

One man inside the home who attempted to put the fire out suffered minor burns in the process, DFR said. He was treated at the scene but declined going to the hospital.
Another man who lived at the house suffered smoke inhalation while trying to escape, officials said. But this man later reportedly admitted to investigators he set the fire in his own bedroom before trying to escape.
The suspect was charged with arson of an occupied habitation, a first-degree felony, but was taken to a local hospital for evaluation because of his condition. Dallas police will book him into the Dallas County Jail after he is released.
Three men in total lived at the home, DFR said. The American Red Cross was called to help the remaining occupants.
