Illinois is still looking to boost its depth and competition on the defensive line in its first year under new defensive coordinator Bobby Hauck. So first-year Illini defensive line coach Jordan Thomas continued that search during the spring evaluation period — and may have found some help.
Thomas visited junior college defensive lineman Joshua Davis last week in Mississippi, where he had dinner with Davis and his parents. The Illini quickly invited the Copiah-Lincoln C.C. freshman for an official visit this weekend. With his mother along for the trip, Davis promptly earned a scholarship offer from Illinois head coach Bret Bielema on Saturday.
Illinois is the first Power Four offer for Davis, who is a Class of 2026 prospect and could join a college this summer.
