A bear sighting happened by Cibola High School in northwest Albuquerque.The video, captured after the sun went down, shows the bear moving around in the parking lot before gradually increasing speed away from the video camera. This sighting prompted a response from New Mexico Game and Fish.A state wildlife spokesperson said it started to receive calls about the bear being seen in Corrales on Wednesday evening, May 6. Those sightings later were reported at Cibola High School and elsewhere.This led to a response by Albuquerque police and Game and Fish at Paradise Hills Golf Course around 3 a.m. Thursday, May 7. Attempts to capture the bear and remove it from the area were unsuccessful.Game and Fish worked to locate the bear throughout Thursday but were unable to. The department also said the bear was seen in the area of Ladera Drive NW and Parkway Drive NW at midnight Friday, May 8.Albuquerque police responded to that midnight sighting with the use of drones equipped with thermal imaging.
