TCU Horned Frogs baseball clinched their final home series of the season against the Utah Utes baseball on Saturday, May 9, with a 3-1 victory.
Pitcher Lance Davis delivered a phenomenal complete-game performance, allowing just six hits and one run across nine innings while recording four strikeouts.
The Utes scored their only run of the game in the top of the fourth inning on a solo home run, but were shut down for the remainder of the outing.
The Horned Frogs responded immediately in the bottom half of the inning when right fielder Sawyer Strosnider launched a 426-foot home run to tie the game.
In the fifth inning, second baseman Cole Cramer gave the Frogs the lead with an RBI single that brought home Jack Bell.
TCU added an insurance run in the sixth when first baseman Rob Liddington drove in Chase Brunson with an RBI single to left field.
Liddington’s RBI proved to be the final run of the game as both teams were held scoreless over the final three innings.
With the win, the Horned Frogs secured the series victory and will look to complete the sweep tomorrow, May 10, at 1 p.m.
