SLABs pulled up to the Orange Show World HQ for the very first SLAB Social. The festival was free, open to the public, curated by Iris Karami, and co-presented with the Houston Museum of African American Culture. It celebrated the candy-colored, neon-lit, and unapologetically loud rides born from Houston’s African American community. Attendees enjoyed sounds by Areal The DJ alongside Glocked Up 225, keynote speaker Dr. Langston Collin Wilkins, and a special exhibition by local SLAB photographers: KV The Creator, Kween Shooter, Alejandra Quintos Yuliana G. The community came together to celebrate this uniquely Houston art form. (Photos by Doogie Roux)
