Phoenix temperatures near 109 as heat warning lasts through Tuesday

  • May 11, 2026

PHOENIX (AZFamily) — It’s a toasty Mother’s Day weekend! Our First Alert Weather Days continue through Tuesday as temperatures continue to trend well above average for this time of the year.

The average temperature for this time of the year is the lower 90s. The Extreme Heat Warning put into effect by the National Weather Service will go through Tuesday, meaning popular hiking trails like Piestewa, Camelback, and parts of South Mountain will be closed from 8 a.m. – 5 p.m.

Monday looks to be the peak of our heat with a high near 108-109, and still toasty Tuesday with highs near 106-107. The record for Monday is 110 degrees; we set that back in the 30s. So we’ll watch to see if we will break or tie that record.

By the end of next week, temperatures will still be trending above normal, though we could fall into the upper 90s. A Pacific system moving across Northern California will shift our ridge of high pressure slightly, which will allow those temperatures to come down just a couple of degrees.

In the meantime, do your best to stay cool and hydrated as we head into a warm week.
