JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (WCYB) — Elizabethton High School graduate Parker Hughes has joined the Jacksonville Jaguars at rookie mini camp.

While Hughes has not been in the sunshine state long, he and is fellow rookies are already getting to work.

“Its been crazy. We’ve all been here working, from meetings to getting on the field,” Hughes said.

Rookie mini camp wrapped up on Sunday, after three days of training.

But even though the feeling of making it this far has set in for Hughes, he believes he has more work to do.

“I have not made it yet in my eyes,” Hughes said. “I want to be the best player I can.”

After graduating from Elizabethton, Hughes walked on to the football team at Middle Tennessee State.

Culminating to his senior season, where the linebacker led the team with 100 tackles.

But Hughes said he does not forget the importance Elizabethton played in his journey to the NFL.

“I owe them everything.” Hughes said. “All these kids over there who don’t think they can make it, you never know.”

The Jaguars will be back on the practice field on May 26, for OTA offseason workouts.
