JACKSONVILLE, Onslow County — Members of the Rotary Club of Jacksonville-New River spent Saturday morning giving back to the community at Sturgeon City.

The club said members repaired benches that the group originally built years ago.

The repairs are meant to give the benches new life for community members to continue using and enjoying.

Members also repaired and rebuilt a bench that was previously created for Zing Zumm, Children’s Museum of Jacksonville.

The Rotary Club said the work is part of its mission of “Service Above Self.”

The group said service can look like paint brushes, tools, teamwork and a Saturday morning spent making things better than they were found.
