Colorful LEGO sculptures will bloom alongside flowers and trees in the Fort Worth Botanic Garden this summer. The garden will host an exhibit called “Sean Kenney’s Nature POP! Made with LEGO Bricks,” from May 22-September 7, featuring more than 40 animal sculptures created from more than 800,000 LEGO bricks.

The exhibit comes five years after FWBG hosted Sean Kenney’s popular “Nature Connects” installation, which filled the grounds with oversized LEGO sculptures depicting plants, animals, and garden scenes.
According to a release, the new “POP!” exhibit will feature colorful sculptures placed throughout the garden, including animals such as a panther, fox, and a mother bear carrying her cub. Each sculpture will also include scientific facts tied to the featured animal or plant.

“The big idea behind Nature POP! is a simple but beautiful one: just like LEGO bricks, everything in nature is connected,” organizers say in the release. “Pull one piece away and the whole picture changes. Kenney’s sculptures make that connection come alive — turning a walk through the Garden into a whole new kind of adventure.”
Artist Sean Kenney created the exhibit in partnership with Imagine Exhibitions, using LEGO bricks to explore themes of wildlife and environmental interconnectedness. Kenney’s LEGO sculptures have been touring since 2012 and broken attendance records at arboretums, gardens, and zoos around the world.
The Fort Worth installation is designed to appeal to both children and adults while encouraging visitors to engage with nature in a different way, he says.
