–University of Wisconsin-La Crosse and UW-Whitewater have secured bids into the NCAA Division III Baseball Championship.
UW-La Crosse (32-12) earned one of 23 at-large bids into the 64-team field, while UW-Whitewater (41-4), the defending national champion, claimed an automatic bid after winning the Wisconsin intercollegiate Athletic Conference Tournament (presented by Culver’s).
UW-La Crosse will travel to Decatur, Ill., and face the host institution Millikin University (35-8). The Eagles are making their 10th NCAA appearance and fourth straight. Baldwin Wallace College (Ohio) (30-9) and Wartburg College (Iowa) (26-15) will also compete in the regional.
UW-Whitewater will host regional action and open against Macalester College (Minn.) (29-15). The Warhawks will make their 27th NCAA appearance. Bethany Lutheran College (Minn.) (31-6) and Luther College (Iowa) (33-11) will also participate in the regional.
Four teams will compete at 16 regional sites May 15-17. Regionals will use a double-elimination format. Winners of the 16 regional tournaments will qualify for eight, best-of-three series at the super regionals May 22-23. The eight super regional winners will then qualify for the pool play double-elimination championship at Classic Auto Group Park in Eastlake, Ohio, May 29-June 4.
