A college football player was tragically shot and killed in a shooting on Saturday evening.
Corey Adams, a freshman football player at Ole Miss, was fatally shot in Tennessee on Saturday night. The freshman college football player was killed late Saturday night (July 19) in a shooting that left four other men injured, according to the police.
The shooting took place outside a residence on Fern Glade Cove in Cordova, which is an eastern suburb of Memphis.
“When deputies arrived at the intersection of Forest Hill-Irene and Walnut Grove, they stopped a vehicle, finding an adult male gunshot victim. They provided life-saving measures until Shelby County Fire arrived,” the statement by police read.
“Shelby County Fire personnel later pronounced the victim deceased on the scene. Upon arrival at Fern Glade Cove, deputies found multiple shell casings and learned that four adult males arrived by personal vehicles to area hospitals with gunshot wounds. All four victims are listed in non-critical condition.
“This shooting is an active homicide investigation by SCSO detectives. Anyone with information about this shooting is encouraged to call Crimestoppers at 528-CASH.”
Adams, a 6-foot-4 defensive lineman, is originally from New Orleans. He was just 18 years old.

Ole Miss released a statement.
“We’re heartbroken by the passing of Corey Adams. Our thoughts are with his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him,” they wrote.
