But let’s be real: If such a futuristic machine existed, we know the downtown section of Culver City would rank quite highly.
A stroll through the vibrant city’s nexus reveals why: Bustling restaurants, great shops, quirky museums, studio history, the bustling Culver Steps, and that ruby-slipper’d icon, the Culver Hotel, lend a daily dazzle to the destination.
That dazzle grows when free events and community-focused festivities alight in Downtown Culver City, which will be the colorful and upbeat case May 13.
Vibes After 5 is returning to the heart of Culver for three hours of DJ tunes — KCRW’s Francesca Harding will be in the house, or, rather, near the steps — and lawn games.
Curious Elixirs will be pouring alcohol-free sips, which are complimentary, in partnership with Burden of Proof, while the sun sets, adding to the twinkling twilight aura.
No reservation or ticket is needed: Simply stroll in the direction of SoCal’s own famous flatiron-y landmark and land right in the middle of the feel-good action.
Downtown Culver City has several events filling its busy upcoming schedule, if you can’t make the May 13 happening or you can and want more CC in your world: A Juneteenth celebration at Veterans Memorial Park is set for June 20, while soccer-cool screenings and live concerts will festoon the schedule after summer officially arrives.
