The infamous Shark Week on Discovery started on Sunday but this year it has some competition, we’ll explain that in a minute, but first here are our top shows of the week

Starting the week off strong on Sunday, July 20 is “Dancing with Sharks.” This is a competition show unlike any other. Hosted by Tom Bergeron, the former “Dancing with the Stars” host, this show features five divers who are ready to compete with their finned partners. They have it all, from hammerheads to tiger sharks and nurse sharks, they each have their own signature move and at the end of the show one will be crowned the winner. But will all the divers make it that far?! You’ll have to find out! “Dancing with Sharks” premieres Sunday, July 20 at 8PM ET/PT on Discovery.

On Monday, July 21 Discovery will air a Shark Week first, “Great White Sex Battle.” For the first time we will get to see male and female great white sharks compete in numerous challenges to determine if the males or females are the superior predator. All taking place in the waters off the coast of New Zealand, this is sure to be a fan favorite of Shark Week! Make sure to catch this experiment on Monday, July 21 at 8PM ET/PT on Discovery.

What happens if you’re in a shark attack?! Everything you’re going to need to know will be told in “How to Survive a Shark Attack.” This follows shark attack survivor Paul de Gelder as he prepares to be attacked by a shark AGAIN. This time, under the supervision of experts, Paul makes a shark attack him in different scenarios, the sharks bite and tear off prosthetic limbs so we can learn life-saving techniques if we are ever face-to-face with the deadly predators. “How to Survive a Shark Attack” premieres Tuesday, July 22 at 9PM ET/PT on Discovery.

Next up is “Expedition Unknown: Shark Files,” which follows adventurer Josh Gates trying to solve some of the strangest and most disturbing shark mysteries of all-time. Audiences get to see the real-life bloody inspiration behind the legendary movie, “Jaws” along with the grotesque case in which a Tiger Shark regurgitated a human arm while living in captivity. Sounds wild, right?! Catch “Expedition Unknown: Shark Files” on Wednesday, July 23 at 8PM ET/PT on Discovery.

If you are a “Jaws” fan, this one’s for you! Marine biologist Tom “Blowfish” Hird and predator ecologist Michelle Jewell dive with Great Whites while reexamining the Stephen Spielberg classic to debunk myths and separate fact from fiction after the movie scared everyone, vowing to never step foot in the ocean again. The biggest question they answer, does skinny dipping really attract great white sharks? A question we all need the answer will be revealed when “Surviving Jaws” premieres Thursday, July 24 at 8PM ET/PT on Discovery.

Concluding the week is “Florida’s Death Beach.” Florida, specifically Smyrna Beach, is known as “The Shark Capital of the World,” accounting for 30% of all shark attacks. Hosted by Forrest Galante, he investigates why this spring break, party beach is a main crime scene for these attacks, and he hopes to get answers before there’s more blood in the water. “Florida’s Death Beach” premieres Friday, July 25 at 8PM ET/PT on Discovery.

And as we mentioned, there’s a new predator Discovery is going to have to content with during Shark Week. Netflix is trying

its hand, erm, fin, at Shark Week. While everyone associates Shark Week with Discovery, Netflix is releasing Shark-themed shows throughout the week. Here are our top two Netflix shows to reel us into their Shark Week shows.

“Shark Whisperer,” from the Academy Award winning director of “My Octopus Teacher,” follows Ocean Ramsey, best known for her viral videos of swimming freely with sharks, while she’s trying to decode sharklanguage up close and personal. This special shows the tensions between advocacy and ethics when it comes to sharks while Ocean tries to connect with these deadly predators on an unprecedented level. “Shark Whisperer” is currently available to stream on Netflix.

Netflix has a new competition show that may get you excited! “All the Sharks” follows four different teams comprised of the most passionate shark experts as they set off on a journey to find and photograph the most sharks. Racing against time and each other these teams find themselves in the craziest shark habitats in the Caribbean seas. They will come face-to-face with Hammerheads and many other dangerous sharks while trying to win $50,000. “All the Sharks” is currently available to stream on Netflix.
