SAN MARCOS, Texas – Police are searching for a suspect in connection to a brawl turned shooting that left two people dead.

On Sunday, the San Marcos Police Department announced the arrest of 19-year-old Jermiah Jayden Tobias, charged with two counts of Capital Murder, as well as the search for 19-year-old Avery Saul Bowman.

According to police, officers were originally called to the scene around 1:30 a.m. on Saturday, at The Square in downtown San Marcos.

Upon arrival, authorities determined that two males, identified as 24-year-old Anthony Barrera and 20-year-old Alek Pacheco had been shot in the head. A third victim had been grazed by gunfire, but was treated and released.

Investigators say that Barrera had been dating a married woman, and that woman’s husband had confronted him at the bar.

The fight carried on onto the outside sidewalk, where Barrera and the husband fought. he husband has not been charged with a crime in the fight.

At some point during the encounter, Avery Saul Bowman allegedly attempted to steal a necklace from Barrera’s neck. A capital murder warrant has been issued for his arrest.

As the fight continued, about eight shots were allegedly fired from a handgun with a modified trigger. Police allege that Jermiah Jayden Tobias was the gunman.

Tobias was taken into custody a short time after the shooting, alongside a 16-year-old who was arrested for an unrelated robbery.

19-year-old Jermiah Jayden Tobias has been arrested and charged with two counts of Capital Murder, and is being held on a bond of $1,650,000.
