Police enforcing an eviction order at a Bronx building on Tuesday stumbled upon hundreds of pounds of illegal marijuana.
The Joint Compliance Task Force, which is part of the New York City Sheriff’s Office, arrived at a building on Pelham Parkway South around 12:30 p.m. to execute an eviction order, according to the Department of Finance.

Officers at the building uncovered a whopping 300 pounds of marijuana plants, 147 THC flowers, and a sophisticated set of weed-growing equipment, officials said.

“Illegal cannabis operations endanger the public safety and undermine legal establishments,” a Department of Finance spokesperson said in a statement to The Post.
A person over age 21 can grow up to three mature and three immature cannabis plants at any one time. But, no residence can have more than six mature and six immature plants, according to the New York Office of Cannabis Management.
