The Xiaomi 17 series is the company’s flagship smartphone lineup. Xiaomi has now announced a new phone in the series: the Xiaomi 17 Max. The key highlight of the upcoming device is its large display.
On its official Weibo account, the company has revealed that the Xiaomi 17 Max will be released in China in May. The exact release date has not been revealed, though pre-orders are now open in China. The teaser image of the phone shows a light blue colorway and a square camera housing similar to the Xiaomi 15. However, it lacks the secondary display found on the Xiaomi 17 Pro.
The Xiaomi 17 Max will come with a 6.9-inch flat display. Notably, the company has confirmed that it will feature a Leica-tuned camera system. Further details remain scarce.
Leaked details of the Xiaomi 17 Max
According to previous leaks, the Xiaomi 17 Max may feature the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset. It may use a 200MP primary camera and a 50MP periscope telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom.
Leaks also point to a large 8,000mAh battery with 100W wired charging and 50W wireless charging. For comparison, the Xiaomi 17 Pro Max houses a 7,500mAh battery, and the Xiaomi 17 Ultra has a 6,000mAh battery. The device may feature an ultrasonic fingerprint scanner and symmetrical dual speakers.
Prominent tipster Digital Chat Station estimates the starting price at around CNY 5,199 (~$765). The tipster has also shared renders of additional finishes, including black and white.
