SAN ANTONIO — Authorities have identified the man whose body was discovered near railroad tracks in Southwest Bexar County earlier this week.
According to the Bexar County Medical Examiner’s Office, the victim is identified as 49-year-old Aguilar Garcia. His official cause and manner of death remain pending.
The body was discovered Monday afternoon near Pue and Wolf Road, according to the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office.

Investigators believe Garcia may have been connected to a train that originated in Del Rio before splitting in San Antonio and continuing toward multiple destinations, including Laredo.
Authorities said the investigation began after a woman traveling inside a boxcar on Saturday contacted her sister, who was out of state, reporting that the railcar was overheating. The sister then contacted San Antonio police, but officers were unable to locate anything at that time.
Officials said a sensor was later triggered near the Southwest Bexar County tracks, leading authorities to Garcia’s body.

The discovery comes just one day after six people were found dead inside a Union Pacific train boxcar at a rail yard in Laredo. Investigators believe the cases may be connected and suspect the victims were being smuggled.
The six victims in Laredo included five men and one woman, according to authorities. Homeland Security Investigations is leading both investigations alongside local agencies.
Sheriff Javier Salazar previously said Garcia was carrying a Mexican voter registration card when he was found.
Investigators continue working to determine exactly what happened and whether the deaths are tied to a larger human smuggling operation. Authorities said charges are pending, though no arrests have been announced.
