PHOENIX (AZFamily) — Construction is set to begin this weekend on a major project to expand the interchange connecting Loop 101 and Interstate 10 in the West Valley.
The project will require several weekend and weeknight closures over the next three years, according to the Arizona Department of Transportation. The first closure begins on Friday.
Southbound Loop 101 between Indian School Road and I-10 will be closed from 9 p.m. Friday, May 15, to 5 a.m. Monday, May 18. The southbound Loop 101 ramps at Cardinals Way and Camelback Road will also be closed.
ADOT suggests exiting ahead of the closure and using southbound 91st or 99th avenues to reach I-10.
The $192 million project will add new ramps and enhance traffic flow in the area, ADOT said. An elevated bridge will also be built to connect HOV lanes between the freeways.
