Phoenix is getting a new route to a California city famous for wine and “Peanuts.”
Alaska Airlines announced it will launch seasonal service between Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport and Santa Rosa, starting in November and running through April.
The route is part of a network expansion at the Santa Rosa airport, where Alaska is its largest carrier and introduced commercial service there in 2007. Alaska will also begin flights to Boise and Salt Lake City from the airport.
These new routes, including Phoenix, will increase the number of Alaska’s routes out of Santa Rosa to 12, the airline stated in a news release.
The new route gives Phoenix air travelers a new option for traveling to California. It’s Alaska’s fifth California route out of Sky Harbor; the airline also flies to San Diego, San Francisco, San Jose and Sacramento.
When will Alaska Airlines’ Phoenix-Santa Rosa flights begin?
Alaska Airlines’ new route from Phoenix to Santa Rosa will begin on Nov. 1. The route will operate once per day on a 76-seat Embraer E175.
The seasonal route will conclude on April 21, 2027.
Who flies in and out of Santa Rosa airport?
Alaska will join American Airlines as the second carrier to fly between Phoenix and Santa Rosa.
How much does Alaska Airlines’ Phoenix-Santa Rosa flight cost?
Round-trip flights between Phoenix and Santa Rosa start at $187 when booking with Alaska’s lowest-priced Saver fare. Be aware that this fare carries more restrictions; for example, passengers can’t pick their own seats and they’re the last to board and access the overhead bins.
Alaska’s Main fare class offers more flexibility and benefits than the Saver class. It starts at $287 round-trip, about $100 more.
What is Santa Rosa CA known for?
Santa Rosa is a prominent city in California’s Wine Country, a gateway to the Napa and Sonoma Valleys. Some of the most famous wineries in the city and surrounding areas include St. Francis Winery and Vineyards, Paradise Ridge Winery and Matanzas Creek Winery.
Known as the home of “Peanuts” creator Charles Schulz, Santa Rosa visitors can view the world’s largest collection of “Peanuts” artwork at the Charles M. Schulz Museum. The exhibits include tile murals made from comic strips and a recreation of Schulz’s studio. Fans of Charlie Brown and Snoopy can also try to spot the 148 statues of “Peanuts” characters that line Santa Rosa, the city’s airport and surrounding areas.
Other highlights include the 400-acre wildlife preserve Safari West, the Pacific Coast Air Museum and outdoor recreation along vast hills and woodlands at Trione-Annadel State Park.
