A man was arrested for the murder of his ex-girlfriend, who was reported as missing under suspicious circumstances.

On Tuesday, July 15, 2025, San Diego Police officers assigned to Southern Division, responded to investigate a report of a missing person. SDPD’s Missing Persons Unit later took over the investigation. The missing person was described as a 33-year-old Hispanic female. During the investigation, detectives gathered facts that led them to believe the victim was deceased. Based on that information, SDPD’s Homicide Unit took over the investigation.

San Diego Police Homicide detectives developed further information that led them to believe the victim’s ex-boyfriend, 48-year-old Eduardo Magana, was involved in her disappearance. Detectives learned Magana resided in La Puente, in Los Angeles County, and went there in an attempt to locate him. Eduardo Magana was detained during a traffic stop in the City of Southgate and later interviewed by SDPD detectives. He was arrested for 187(a) PC – murder and booked into San Diego County Jail.
