A man is fighting for his life in the hospital after being shot in the head on Thursday night, according to the Philadelphia Police Department.
Officers were in the area of 12th and Bainbridge streets around 10:30 p.m. when they reported hearing gunshots nearby.
Philadelphia police Capt. Timothy Stephan told NBC10 that the officers went toward the gunshot sounds and found a man lying on the ground on the 1100 block of Kater Street.
The man was unresponsive and had a gunshot wound to his head, Capt. Stephan said. He was taken to the hospital by police and was placed in extremely critical condition.
Officers at the scene said they found a firearm, a shoe and Ray Ban Meta AI glasses under the victim. Detectives are looking into whether the glasses were recording when the shooting happened.
A vehicle driving by was also hit by the gunfire but no one was hurt inside that car, Capt. Stephan explained.
Detectives reported finding a second handgun that had been thrown away into a nearby backyard.
