The crossover we didn’t know we needed!
L.A. eateries Prime Pizza and BADMAASH have teamed up to craft a butter chicken pizza! The limited edition pizza marries the bold South Asian flavors BADMAASH is known for with Prime’s NYC-style pizza. The result… is delicious.
The base of the pizza features mozzarella, bell peppers, pickled onions, and fresh parsley, and is married with tender butter chicken and its sauce drizzled on top. The unique smell beautifully filled our L.A. office, piquing the interest of surrounding coworkers.
I’m not usually one for chicken on pizza, but the tender meat and curry sauce marry the pizza beautifully. The edges are crispy while the inside slices were a bit softer, but not doughy. The entire team was wowed. The slice was so saucy that we needed a knife and fork to dig in without dripping everywhere – but it didn’t overpizza the cheese. Though unexpected, the pizza feels like a match made in heaven.
And be warned – the square slices are larger than they look! One pizza comfortably fed six people. Even just one slice is quite filling.
How did the collab come together?
“This one’s been a long time coming,” said Nakul Mahendro, CEO and co-founder of BADMAASH, in a statement. “We’ve been neighbors with Prime on Fairfax for years, and we’ve always talked about doing something together. Butter chicken is such a core part of who we are, and putting it on a pizza just makes sense. This pizza is craveable, balanced, and it’s fun. I’ll put butter chicken on anything… but this one hits hard.”
James Starr, Co-Founder of Prime Pizza, emphasized their commitment to making a good pizza.
“We’re always down to push things, but it still has to eat like a traditional slice and taste great,” he said in a statement. “BADMAASH has such a strong point of view, so it wasn’t
about overthinking it, it was about finding that overlap. Butter chicken on a pizza is kind of wild on paper, but once we dialed it in, it just made sense. It’s rich, it’s a little indulgent, and it’s the kind of thing you want to keep going back to.”
When is it available?
The butter chicken pizza is available for only two weeks this May, from May 14 through May 25, 2026.
Where can I try the pizza?
The Butter Chicken Pizza will be available in all Prime Pizza locations and on Uber Eats, while supplies last.
