PHOENIX (AZFamily) — Welcome to Friday!
It’s a very nice start to our morning with lows in the 70s. This afternoon we will see a high of 99 degrees.
A ridge of high pressure that brought us the heat earlier this week will start to weaken, and we have a low pressure system moving just north of us. This low could pick up the winds a bit this weekend and bring high fire danger up in the Arizona high country.
Heads up: there is an Air Quality Alert for Friday from Arizona Department of Environmental Quality. Ozone levels will be high later today, so those with breathing issues are advised to take note.
For the weekend, it will be a warmer day on Saturday, with highs around 100 degrees. Sunday will be a nice one with a high temperature of 95 degrees, very close to our average high of 94. It’s going to be a great start to the next work week as well with temps in the lower 90s for Monday and staying below 100 through Wednesday.
No sign of any rain in the forecast; the only concern will be off-and-on breezy conditions here in the Valley and stronger winds in northern Arizona.
We definitely could use some rain. So far for the year, we have had just .32 inches of rainfall at Sky Harbor, which is 2.52 inches below where we should be this time of year for rainfall. Let’s hope the Monsoon produces some good action this summer!
