Thousands of tablets of a blood pressure medication have been recalled due to possible impurities, according to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.
The 675 bottles of enalapril maleate tablets, sold in 20-milligram capsules in 1,000-count packaging, was voluntarily recalled by the manufacturer on April 23, according to the FDA report.
The medication, which is used to treat hypertension and symptomatic congestive heart failure, failed a test for impurity and degradation specifications, the FDA states. The FDA says the product is “not likely to cause adverse health consequences.”
The lot number for the recalled medication is GEH25023 with an expiration of 6/30/2027.
The medication is manufactured by Unique Pharmaceutical Laboratories, a division of J.B. Chemicals and Pharmaceuticals, in India and distributed nationwide by New Jersey-based Rising Pharma Holdings.
