The Maricopa County Board of Supervisors approved four new groups during its May 6 meeting for its “New Hope” program with the county’s Animal Care and Control department.

The groups approved are:

  • Paw Posse Animal Rescue, 26605 N. 51st Drive in Phoenix.
  • Paws 4 Life AZ, 1205 E. Harold Drive in San Tan Valley.
  • Arizona Chihuahua Rescue, 11053 E. Pueblo Ave. in Mesa.
  • Arizona Small Dog Rescue, 932 E. Guadalupe Road in Tempe.

New Hope Partners are trusted Arizona animal rescue organizations, shelters, and veterinary hospitals dedicated to providing essential veterinary and behavioral care beyond what the Animal Care and Control department can offer in the shelter, according to county documents.

Through the New Hope Program, the county collaborates with  partners to support lifesaving efforts and improve the well-being of animals in the Valley.

Once approved, partners can take ownership of animals in need of rescue placement. They also have the option to transfer eligible adoptable animals to their organization at a reduced cost. These animals will be released vaccinated, licensed, and may be microchipped and spayed or neutered at no cost to the partner, according to county documents.

The contracts with the organizations run for three years, and the parties may renew or amend the contract as many times as desired, but each renewal may not exceed the duration of the previous agreement.
