BEXAR COUNTY, Texas — Authorities are searching for a man after human remains were discovered at his home in Far South Bexar County.

According to the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office (BCSO), 49-year-old Charles Vandoil Byrd is wanted for Tampering With Evidence With Intent to Impair a Human Corpse.

BCSO says deputies were called to a home Saturday in the 22100 block of Pleasanton Road after a caller reported that Byrd said he had killed his wife. Upon arrival, deputies discovered a decomposed body wrapped in plastic in Byrd’s residence on the property.

Deputies say Byrd is currently considered a person of interest in this case and he may be armed and dangerous.

Byrd is 5’6, approximately 208 pounds, with blonde hair, and blue eyes. Byrd was last seen on Saturday, July 19, driving a 2025 black Dodge Ram pickup truck with Texas license plate WLW-2027.
