Police are investigating after a man was found shot behind a Bronx apartment building late Saturday night, as the number of victims of gunfire in the area surges.

According to police sources, officers from the 50th Precinct were called to 125 West Kingsbridge Road in Kingsbridge Heights at 11:34 p.m. after a 911 caller reported that a person had been shot. Upon arrival, cops found a 27-year-old man in the rear of the building with a gunshot wound to the leg.

EMS rushed the victim to Saint Barnabas Hospital, where he was listed in stable condition and is expected to survive. Meanwhile, the unidentified shooter fled northbound on Sedgwick Avenue. Police did not immediately have a description of the gunman.

NYPD sources reported that the victim was being uncooperative with detectives.

According to the latest NYPD crime statistics, the number of shooting victims has skyrocketed by a whopping 100% in the confines of the 50th Precinct. Eight people have been injured in the area by gunfire so far this year, compared to four in 2025. However, the precinct has only seen one more shooting in comparison to the same time last year.

No arrests have been made in this latest incident, and the investigation remains ongoing.
