SAN ANTONIO – A Northside Independent School District employee at Jay High School has been placed on administrative leave following allegations and an arrest, according to a district statement.
On Saturday, 38-year-old Chad Allen Rodriguez was arrested on a charge of Improper Relationship between and Educator/Student.
NISD said the employee was hired in August 2016 and works as a physics and astronomy teacher and a football and track coach at Jay High School.
According to the arrest affidavit, the victim, a 17-year-old student, met regularly with Rodriguez in his classroom alone between October 2025 and May 2026.
The victim told police that she and Rodriguez would meet in his classroom and have sexual intercourse.
On May 14, another student was walking near the classroom, where they saw the suspect and the victim alone in the classroom through a window near the door.
Court records also say that the victim and suspect would regularly exchange sexual photos and videos of themselves.
“The district is aware of the allegations and subsequent arrest, and the employee has been placed on immediate administrative leave,” the district said.
NISD said it could not share specific details because of an ongoing police investigation, but said: “NISD and Jay High School are cooperating fully with law enforcement.”
“Our priority remains the safety and well-being of our students, and we are committed to maintaining a secure, supportive environment during this time,” the district said.
Rodriguez remains in custody in the Bexar County Jail on a $50,000 bond.
