HOUSTON – A motorcyclist died early Monday morning, leading to the exit ramp on Katy Freeway in east Harris County being shut down.
Details are limited, as it’s an active investigation, but Sheriff Ed Gonzalez said the rider reportedly went over the ramp on SH-99 and died upon impact.
A scene investigation remains underway at the Katy Freeway and SH-99. @HCSOTexas deputies are investigating a fatal crash involving a motorcycle rider. The rider reportedly went over the SH-99 ramp and was pronounced deceased.

It’s unclear what factors played a role in the crash, but while they investigate, authorities have shut down the Katy Freeway exit ramp, leaving only the service roads open.
