The Tony Award-winning musical adaptation of the cult-classic 1992 film has played at the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre since fall 2024.

Death Becomes Her has set a Broadway closing date of June 28, at which time it will have played over 650 total performances at the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre.

Adapted from the same-named Meryl Streep/Goldie Hawn film from 1992, Death Becomes Her follows frenemies Madeline and Helen, who both take a youth potion in an attempt to one-up each other in love, fame, and looks for eternity. The musical premiered on Broadway in 2024, when it was met with critical and audience acclaim.

“Decadent and a lot of fun, Death Becomes Her is a musical that knows what it is and what its audience wants,” New York Theatre Guide’s critic wrote.

The show was nominated for 10 Tony Awards, including Best Musical, in 2025, winning for Best Costume Design (Paul Tazewell).

The current cast is led by Betsy Wolfe as Madeline Ashton, 2025 Tony Award nominee Jennifer Simard as Helen Sharp, Christopher Sieber as Ernest Menville, Grammy Award winner Michelle Williams as Viola Van Horn, Taurean Everett as Chagall, and Josh Lamon as Stefan.

The show also features a book by Marco Pennette, a score by Noel Carey and Julia Mattison, and direction and choreography by Christopher Gattelli, all of whom were Tony-nominated for their work.
