Staff at Houston Zoo released more than one million Houston toad eggs in a protected habit as part of a species recovery program, recent footage shows.
The Houston toad, an endangered species, is a small, brown amphibian. The toad was typically located in more than a dozen counties but can only be found only in a narrow stretch of east-central Texas, Houston Zoo said.
The eggs were released as art of a conservation effort by Houston Zoo, Texas Parks and Wildlife, the US Fish and Wildlife Service, and staff at Dallas Zoo and Fort Worth Zoo.
