SOME OF US ARE SEEING SOME PEAKS IN THE CLOUD AND SEEING SOME BLUE SKIES. SO. AND THERE ARE A COUPLE SHOWERS. DOESN’T LOOK TOO BUSY ON LAKE HARTWELL THIS AFTERNOON. WE ARE EXPECTING A COUPLE THUNDERSTORMS, BUT THANKFULLY IT WON’T BE A WASHOUT. WE’LL KEEP MOSTLY CLOUDY SKIES OVER THE NEXT COUPLE HOURS, AND THIS IS GOING TO BE THE TREND AGAIN FOR ABOUT THE NEXT WEEK. SO WHAT WE’RE SEEING LIVE RIGHT NOW ACROSS THE RADAR, LIGHT RAIN STARTING TO MOVE IN TOWARDS FRANKLIN, UP TOWARDS CULLOWHEE AND HENDERSONVILLE. LIGHT SPOTTY SHOWERS NEAR GREENVILLE OFF TOWARDS I26. THE HEAVIEST RAIN RIGHT NOW MOVING IN TOWARDS WALHALLA JUST SOUTH, MOVING IN OVER CLEMSON. THERE IS SOME RAIN MOVING OVER THE LAKE AS WELL. NOW THIS IS MAINLY RAIN, NOT SEEING ANY LIGHTNING BOLTS WITH IT, BUT A COUPLE THUNDERSTORMS ARE POSSIBLE AS WE GO THROUGHOUT THE AFTERNOON BECAUSE WE ARE SEEING THAT BREEZE COMING IN FROM THE SOUTH, AND WE ALSO ARE SEEING PLENTY OF DRY TIME TODAY. TEMPERATURES WILL HEAD TOWARDS THE UPPER 70S TO NEAR 80. WE DO START TO SEE A FEW CHANGES AS WE GO TOWARDS THIS EVENING. AS A STATIONARY FRONT AND LOW PRESSURE START TO BUILD IN. THIS WILL FIRE OFF A COUPLE MORE THUNDERSTORMS IN THE FORECAST AND SHOWERS AS WE HEAD PAST SUNSET AND OVERNIGHT. NOW THIS IS SCATTERED. THIS IS BY ABOUT 11:00. DON’T BE SURPRISED IF YOU DO HEAR A FEW RUMBLES OF THUNDER AS YOU GO TO BED LATER THIS EVENING. MOST OF THIS SHOULD BE UNDER SEVERE LIMITS. AND THEN AS WE HEAD OVERNIGHT, RAIN BECOMES HEAVIER, MORE SCATTERED. AND THEN WE DO THAT ALL THE WAY THROUGH FRIDAY. THIS IS THURSDAY AND FRIDAY OF THIS WEEK. RAIN CONTINUES TO PUSH THROUGH THE AREA. THEN WE SEE A FRONT LIFT IN ON SATURDAY WITH A STATIONARY FRONT. THIS WILL BE THE HEAVIEST RAIN OF THE WEEK. WE’RE KEEPING AN EYE ON IT. OF COURSE, THIS IS ABOUT ALMOST A WEEK AWAY, BUT IF YOU DO HAVE OUTDOOR PLANS BY NEXT SATURDAY I WOULD HAVE A BACKUP PLAN READY TO GO BECAUSE WE HAVE SEEN SO MUCH RAINFALL IN THE LAST COUPLE OF DAYS. IT’S NEEDED WITH THIS DROUGHT. IT’S WELCOMED. BUT FOR THE AREAS THAT HAVE SEEN EXCESSIVE RAINFALL, IF YOU’RE IN A LOW LYING AREA, IF YOU’RE NEAR DIRT ROADS, THERE IS A FLOOD RISK TODAY AND ESPECIALLY ON TUESDAY, WHERE RAIN IS JUST A LITTLE BIT HEAVIER. SO FLASH FLOODING IS POSSIBLE. PLEASE KEEP THAT IN MIND AS YOU HEAD OUT ON THE ROADWAYS AS WELL. NOW, BECAUSE THE RIVERS HAVE BEEN SO LOW DUE TO THE DROUGHT, WE’RE NOT EXPECTING THE RIVERS TO OVERFLOW. SO THAT IS GOOD NEWS. Myrtle Beach police are issuing a warning about Portuguese Man o’ Wars washing ashore.Police said strong currents are washing marine vegetation and venomous wildlife onto the beaches. They said the organisms can still sting on land and should be disposed of by first responders.Keep up with what’s happening around our area by downloading the WYFF News 4 app on the App Store or Google Play.They said if someone is stung, to remove the tentacles as quickly as possible, and put vinegar on the affected area to deactivate the stinging cells. Then make sure to monitor the site and seek assistance from lifeguards, ocean rescue, or medical personnel if needed.A sting from a Portuguese Man o’ War can be deadly, though fatal stings are extremely rare. Their venom can trigger severe systemic reactions including breathing difficulties, cardiovascular collapse, or anaphylactic shock.Officials also said to make sure children and pets are kept away from them. Make sure to watch where you step while walking on the beach.Although they resemble jellyfish, Portuguese Man o’ Wars are colonial hydrozoans, meaning they are made up of small individual animals called zooids, each with its own specific function.
