Noteworthy: Ortega threw consecutive complete games in La Mirada’s 3-1 victory against Etiwanda in the quarterfinals and 5-1 victory against La Habra in the semifinals last week. The junior went seven innings and allowed three hits, one run, two walks and struck out 11 batters against Etiwanda. Two days later, she followed that performance up with another complete game against La Habra. She threw seven innings and allowed eight hits, one run, three walks, while striking out seven batters. Ortega and the Matadores will play JSerra in the CIF-Southern Section Division 1 final at Deanna Manning Stadium in Irvine on Friday at 7 p.m.
