Manchester United have struggled to sell players in the 2025 transfer window. Could that be about to change?

Manchester United have made more money this summer in sell-on fees from players sold in previous windows than in this one.

United have not sold a single player, although have managed to agree to loan Marcus Rashford to Barcelona, where his entire salary will be covered.

Rashford was one of five players excluded from first team training, part of United’s ‘bomb squad’, along with Jadon Sancho, Antony, Tyrell Malacia and Alejandro Garnacho.

All five are being encouraged to find new clubs. Talks are ongoing regarding Jadon Sancho and Juventus, but without positive resolution so far.

Juventus are currently attempting to hammer out a deal for Jadon Sancho. They have been pushing throughout July.

Their new general manager Damien Comolli has been personally involved, with United ready to drop their asking price to less than £20 million, United In Focus understands.

The low fee would allow Juventus a better chance of meeting Jadon Sancho’s wage demands, but the personal terms remain the most challenging aspect of the deal.

Amid negotiations, Juventus have expressed interest in a second Manchester United player, not part of the ‘bomb squad’.

Juventus are attempting to sign a striker and they have now expressed interest in Manchester United forward Rasmus Hojlund.

United In Focus can reveal that during the Jadon Sancho talks, Juventus have expressed interest in Rasmus Hojlund’s situation.

Hojlund has seen a summer move fail to materialise with loan moves from Inter Milan and Napoli both failing to get off the ground.

Now Juventus have asked about Hojlund, as their own bid to land Randal Kolo Muani has stalled. United are willing to move Hojlund on this summer as they have made it clear they want a number nine to go with Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo.

We understand that Hojlund would be open to a move back to Serie A as he understands that Ruben Amorim wants to move on from him.

We are told that Comolli and Juve would be willing to look at a permanent deal for Hojlund but it would need United to accept a massive loss on the player – perhaps even close to half, having secured him in a deal worth £64 million in 2023.

Transfer insider Graeme Bailey explains: “Damien Comolli believes a deal for Jadon Sancho is close but one for Randal Kolo Muani isn’t – which has seen him ask about Rasmus Hojlund.

“This is an interesting option for both Hojlund and United – if this double deal came off it would get rid of one of the bomb squad and another player who they accept is not going to have a starting role next season.

“United have made it clear they want another striker this summer, whether Hojlund stayed or not. I am told the club as a whole believe a parting of the ways would be the ideal scenario, coupled with them landing their new number nine.”

Selling Hojlund and Sancho would free up funds for United to spend on further incoming deals.

Hojlund played the second half of Manchester United’s friendly against Leeds, although failed to impress, continuing his poor form from last season.
