Avery Saul Bowman, 19, was taken into custody, according to the San Marcos Police Department.

The arrest follows a violent turn of events that unfolded just after 1:30 a.m. Saturday near a downtown San Marcos bar.
While the initial report to police mentioned a stabbing, responding officers discovered that two men had been shot in the head. The victims—24-year-old Anthony Barrera and 20-year-old Alek Pacheco—were both pronounced dead, Barrera at the scene and Pacheco later at a hospital. A third person suffered a gunshot wound to the foot and was treated and released.
Investigators say the confrontation began inside the bar after Barrera was approached by a man identified as the estranged husband of a woman Barrera had been dating. The conflict spilled outside, where a second individual reportedly ripped a necklace from Barrera’s neck, sparking a separate fight. It was during the chaos that roughly eight shots were fired, hitting all three victims.
Bowman is now one of several people implicated in the case. Nineteen-year-old Jeremiah Jayden Tobias was previously arrested and charged with two counts of capital murder and one count of aggravated assault. Police also arrested a 16-year-old boy Saturday night in a separate, but related, aggravated robbery case.
A capital murder warrant had already been issued for Bowman’s arrest before his capture. Police say the investigation is ongoing and more arrests could follow.
