Most Dallas-Fort Worth residents have their eyes trained on the triple-digit high in the forecast later this week, but Tuesday will still be quite toasty.

The high of 97 degrees Tuesday is average for late July, according to the National Weather Service’s Fort Worth office. Relatively mild humidity will keep the heat index from jumping significantly, with a maximum “feels like” temperature projection of 99 degrees.

The afternoon will also possibly be quite windy, with gusts up to 20 miles per hour.

Nearly identical conditions are forecast for Wednesday before more heat moves in Thursday. The temperature is expected to jump up a few degrees to 100, the first occurrence of triple digits this year in the metro area. The heat index is expected to follow suit, with a maximum temperature of 104 degrees.
