QUINCY (WGEM) – A fawn was intentionally hit by a car Thursday night near Moorman park.
According to the Adams County Sheriff’s Office, officers responded to the park on Friday morning for an injured fawn laying in the road.
Deputies said the fawn had a broken leg and a few minor injuries.
The Adams County Animal Warden responded to the scene and transported it to a local veterinarian where it was later euthanized.
While deputies were on scene, a witness informed them a white sedan driven by a teen was leaving Moorman park and intentionally hit the fawn as it was following its mother while they crossed the road.
The Adams County Sheriff’s Office wants to remind residents that it is illegal to intentionally harm wildlife in Illinois. It can result in fines, criminal charges, and loss of hunting/fishing rights.
