Dallas police are investigating a crash that left one person dead and several others injured Saturday evening on westbound LBJ Freeway.

Officers responded to the 11100 block of westbound LBJ Freeway just before 6:30 p.m. after receiving reports of a major accident, police said.

Preliminary information from investigators indicated a blue sedan traveling westbound attempted to exit the freeway from the second lane from the left.

The sedan struck a concrete barrier and crash cushion before being hit by a white pickup and a semi truck with a trailer.

Police said the sedan caught fire after the collision.

One passenger in the sedan was ejected from the vehicle and transported to a hospital in critical condition. A second passenger in the sedan died at the scene, police said.

The driver of the sedan was also transported to a hospital in critical condition.

The driver and two passengers in the white pickup were also taken to hospitals, according to police. Their conditions were not released.
