Anyone in the Valley looking for something to do on a weekend in June 37 years ago this month had a lot of options.
There was checking out the new Tim Burton “Batman” blockbuster with Michael Keaton as the Caped Crusader, which had just hit theaters that Friday. And there was plenty of live music.
At After The Gold Rush, indie rockers Concrete Blonde were in town. While big on college radio, they were still a year away from their breakout hit single “Joey.” Sunday night that weekend was packed with Walt Richardson & the Morningstar Band at Chuy’s on Mill Avenue; future Arizona Blues Hall of Fame inductees the Hoodoo Kings on stage at Char’s Live on Seventh Avenue; and Midnite Blues, the popular Phoenix blues band fronted by Jimmy Peyton, another future Arizona Blues Hall of Famer, that night at Warsaw Wally’s on Indian School Road.
