How long was the line?
Twenty minutes. I’m not a very patient person, and I don’t have the time to wait on the line usually. But today it’s 90 degrees and I really want some frozen yogurt.
What are you studying?
Film. I mostly write and edit. I like to just spend time outside and do a lot of people-watching and eavesdropping. If I hear something good, I’ll write it down, and sometimes that’ll find its way into a script.
What’s something that made it into a script?
Before I transferred to NYU last year, I spent my first year at Smith College. It’s historically a women’s college and was just an insane experience. So I wrote a script about a girl who goes to a women’s college and ends up getting sucked into a hedonistic cult. I pulled a lot of that from my experience there because it was just like, You can’t make this shit up.

It’s kind of weirdly enjoyable. It’s this transient space that you have. It’s like sitting in the subway when you don’t want to be productive.

I’m not a fan. I’ve seen it happen to a few of my favorite spots, like the ice-cream place Caffè Panna by my house. It now has a 30-minute line every time I try to go.

Yeah, my friends and I come here at least a couple times a month. Now there’s fro-yo everywhere, but this was the OG spot.
