SAN ANTONIO – New developments in the arrest of State Representative Josey Garcia’s husband.
He’s posted bond after being arrested on drug and weapons charges.
According to Rep. Garcia’s website, he’s a Purple Heart recipient.
We’re learning the arrest of 38-year-old Ramon Alberto Salcedo happened during a traffic stop near the San Antonio Airport on Friday.
This is the mugshot of Ramon Alberto Salcedo just into our newsroom.
Police say Salcedo was pulled over and arrested for unlawfully carrying a weapon after a handgun was found in his car. He was also charged with possession of a controlled substance after officers discovered marijuana and THC-infused gummies. Additional charges include possession of drug paraphernalia.
Salcedo is the husband of State Rep. Josey Garcia, who serves District 124.
Garcia, who has been active in recent Kerr County flood relief efforts, has not responded to our request for comment. However, she told the San Antonio Express-News, “This was an unlawful arrest.”
She added, “They’re getting him on controlled substance, which is my prescription medication with my name on it, and he has the ID card with my name on it and two ID cards with his name… because he’s my military dependent.”
This morning, we’ve confirmed Salcedo’s bond was set at $18,500. He has been released and will await his next court hearing.
