Tom Nolan vs. Fares Ziam: Round 3

Nolan kicks to the body, keeping Ziam at a distance. Ziam closes in and eats a hard knee to the body. Nolan follows up with a clinch into the cage. Ziam gets the position reversal and then gets the lift and slam. Ziam tries to get space for ground and pound, but Nolan is able to push him off and offer upkicks. Ziam stays out of danger, goes back to the ground, and ends up on the back after a scramble. A choke is slapped on, but Nolan defends it well. Nolan explodes to reverse the position. Nolan gets back to a standing clinch, but Ziam reverses again and gets the same lift for the takedown as before. Nolan is quick to get to one knee this time. Ziam looks for big strikes in the closing moments, but Nolan is able to escape.

10-9 Ziam, but the fight goes to Nolan, 29-28.

They clash shins with leg kicks at the same time, and Ziam unloads a combination of punches, tagging Nolan well. Nolan resets and shoots for the takedown, but doesn’t get it. The clinch battle continues along the fence. Back and forth they go, working for positional advantage. Nolan drills in a knee to the body. On the exit, Ziam slips on a spinning elbow attempt and falls to the canvas. Nolan takes advantage by following to the mat. In full guard, Nolan looks for punches. Ziam looks for a kimura on the right arm, but Nolan calmly gets out of it. Ziam works his way to the fence and gets back to standing. The clinch battle continues against the cage. The separation comes with just a few seconds left, and they both look to land something before the horn.

Both bounce lightly on their feet in the opening moments as they trade kicks to start. Ziam gets a hold of Nolan for a takedown, and nearly gets a choke in, but Nolan defends well. He works his way to the fence and gets the fight back to standing. Nolan comes forward with punches as Ziam looks for a counter. Nolan lands a big punch straight into a lift and slam takedown. Ziam gets to full guard and works his way to the fence. Nolan postures up with ground and pound. Ziam gets to one knee, and Nolan threatens a front choke. It’s not there as Ziam gets to his feet – but Nolan has the back still, and lifts for the slam. Ziam quickly explodes, scrambling to take top position. Nolan gets to his feet, but Ziam sticks with the back take. Nolan eventually gets the separation with 30 seconds to go. Ziam closes in with punches, and Nolan dips under for the clinch.

Luna comes out aggressively with strikes and ends up with an early takedown. Mitchell attempts to create space and Luna slaps on a D’arce choke. It looks deep for a moment, but Mitchell escapes and takes top position. Mitchell gets to full mount with half of the round to go. Mitchell has the legs grapevined and keeps threatening an arm triangle choke. Luna regains full guard and tries to explode to his feet. Mitchell floats well, takes the back, and slaps on a rear-naked choke! It’s not there for him. Luna turns and gives up mount with Mitchell going for the arm triangle! Oh! He steps off to the side! It’s tight!! Just a few seconds left in the fight! There’s the tap!!! WOW!

Santiago Luna vs. Bryce Mitchell: Round 2

Luna lands a nice combo, but Mitchell quickly responds with forward pressure, leading to a takedown attempt. Mitchell lands a few knees in the clinch along the fence before adjusting and getting Luna to the mat – however, Luna scrambles quickly to take top position. Mitchell throws up a triangle attempt and Luna quickly backs out to reset to standing. They exchange punches in the center, and Mitchell gets another body lock, pushing Luna into the cage. Mitchell gets the takedown, working from half guard. Mitchell hunts for full mount, gets side control, then Luna spins to North/South. Back to side control with Mitchell now offering elbows and short punches.

Mitchell lands a left and a kick to the body as Luna offers heavy forward pressure to start. Luna lands a very nice two-punch combo. Mitchell eats it and comes forward looking for the takedown. He gets Luna to the mat, landing in side control. Mitchell keeps Luna pinned to the canvas, but isn’t transitioning or landing strikes – it’s Luna landing short, yet insignificant punches from the bottom. Mitchell opts to rise to a knee, and Luna gets to guard, but Mitchell steps over into full mount. Luna nearly sweeps, but Mitchell takes the back. Luna gives up full mount again, and Mitchell gets in a few punches before the horn.

They touch gloves and the action starts with a leg kick from Baraniewski. A moment later, Baraniewski shoots in, pushing Tafa into the fence, but nothing comes of it. They return to the center and both nearly clash with big shots. Baraniewski digs in with a hard leg kick and down goes Tafa! Baraniewski swarms for the finish with follow-up punches and there it is! It’s all over!

They tap gloves, and Schnell gets it started with a kick to the body. Costa patiently circles on the outside as Schnell feints and offers quick strikes. Costa rips a hard punch to the body, followed by one up top. Schnell doubles up the left jab. Costa comes forward with a pair of punches. Schnell answers with a punch and a leg kick. Costa steps in and drills Schnell with a hard right hand! Schnell is stunned in place, and then tries to grab the legs as Costa rushes in! Costa unloads a series of unanswered punches from the top, and the referee stops the fight! Schnell still tries to wrestle as he doesn’t realize the fight has been stopped, and he’s protesting. It’s all over, though.

Right back into the action with a head kick from McGhee, as he comes out in a bladed stance. Yannis lands a right hand around the guard. McGhee doubles up the right hand. McGhee kicks to the body, and Yannis looks to answer with one of his own. Yannis lands a nice right hand. McGhee kicks high. Midway through the round now, and McGhee continues to dart in and out with single strikes. McGhee doubles up the right jab and then kicks to the body. McGhee looks for the level change but quickly abandons it. Yannis closes the distance, but his offensive output just isn’t there. McGhee offers a front kick to the head. Yannis offers a series of right hooks. McGhee lands a left, followed by a head kick. Yannis lands a two-punch combo, but there’s no time left.

Yannis’ nose is trickling blood to start the round. McGhee looks for a couple of high kicks to start. A darting right hand gets home for McGhee, too. Yannis closes the distance but gets caught with a buzzsaw of quick punches from McGhee. Yannis continues to march forward. McGhee lands a nice counter combo. McGhee twirls around as he fakes a spinning attack. Yannis looks for a combination upstairs. They trade in close as the action heats up. Two minutes to go. Yannis lands a hard leg kick. McGhee rips a combination finding Yannis’ chin, and he looks hurt as he circles. McGhee senses it and gives chase, but Yannis fires back. Yannis adds a few more punches as they exchange. Yannis rips a nice punch to the body. McGhee answers with a head kick just before the horn.

There’s another hard leg kick from Yannis. McGhee spins again with a kick up high, but misses. Yannis looks for a punch to the body and is met with a counter hook. McGhee spins again, missing with the kick. McGhee gets back to pressuring, offering a few feints to keep Yannis guessing. There’s a big two-punch combo from McGhee. McGhee jumps with a kick into a spinning backfist, feeling free out there. One minute to go. Yannis sits on a hard left hand, but McGhee keeps coming forward.

They touch ’em up and get straight to it with initial punching exchanges in the center. Chairez takes control of the center behind a long left jab. Silva answers one of those jabs with a slick pull counter right hand. Chairez offers a front kick to the body. They trade punches with both getting in clean shots. Another exchange sees Silva land the cleaner, more powerful punch. Chairez times a beautiful right hand and sits Silva down! Chairez doesn’t rush in, though, as Silva pops up immediately. Calmly controlling the center, Chairez keeps working the left jab. Silva looks for the takedown, but it’s not there. BANG!!! Chariez floors Silva with an uppercut! This time Chairez follows up with punches! Now he opts to take the back and slap on a rear-naked choke! It’s tight!! There’s the tap!!! Wow!!!

Cachoeira stalks forward with heavy pressure from the jump. She punches first, and lands a nice right hand. Chandler finds home for a solid counter uppercut, giving Cachoeira pause. Cahoeira closes the distance again and lands a hard left hook. They’re trading now, and Cachoeira gets the better of it, and catches a kick, pushing Chandler to the ground. The referee grants the stand up and they reset. Chandler blasts Cachoeira with a clean punch and down she goes! Chandler rushes in and ends up on the back. Cachoeira gets her back to the canvas as Chandler transitions for the armbar. She punches from the top position for a moment, and now Chandler goes for the armbar. Oh, it looks good, too! She gets the full extension, and there’s the quick tap! What a finish for Chandler in her return!

They touch ’em up, and Leavitt’s first action is diving at Brito’s legs for a takedown. The fight goes to the ground, but Brito ends up on top. Leavitt threatens a guillotine. It doesn’t appear very tight, but he’s able to sweep to top position. Brito gets to his feet, and Leavitt loses the choke and looks for the takedown again. A few short strikes are traded before they separate. Back in the center, and there’s another double-leg attempt from Leavitt, which is unsuccessful – but he keeps the clinch against the fence. Leavitt lands a few knees to the body. Brito reverses the position and shakes free. Brito unloads a series of wild strikes, but doesn’t really land. There’s a punch that gets in. Leavitt shoots in again. Uh oh! Brito slaps on a ninja choke! It’s tight! It’s very tight!!! Leavitt taps!! Brito takes off his shorts, Derrick Lewis style!

They touch gloves one last time. Duben offers a 1-2. There’s a spinning backfist attempt from Duben, but it misses, and allows Chaves to grab the back and get a takedown. Duben is able to get back to standing without much happening on the mat. Back in space now, and Chaves lands a big shot on Duben. Chaves comes forward and easily gets another takedown midway through. Duben is able to reverse the position, though. Chaves looks to stand up and escape, but Duben gets the lift and slams Chaves to the canvas. Duben lands a short elbow, and looks for more punches as Chaves tries to keep her arms tied up. Less than a minute now and Chaves looks to punch from the bottom. They get back to standing with just a few ticks left, trading punches until the horn.

10-9 Duben, but the fight is 29-28 for Chaves.

Duben gets it going with a combination. Chaves circles out to reset and then comes in to clinch. She looks for a knee up the middle, but Duben gets control of the clinch and looks for the takedown along the fence. They separate and get the striking battle heated up, trading punches as they move around the octagon. Both connected well in that moment. Chaves looks for the takedown and gets it midway through the round. Chaves finds the back and slaps on a rear-naked choke! It looks good, but Duben is defending nicely. Chaves opts to abandon the choke, and drills in a few hard punches and elbows. Chaves still has the body triangle as Duben is upright, with both knees on the canvas. More punches find the mark before the horn.

They touch ’em up and get to feeling out the range. Chaves gets the action started with a leg kick. Duben digs in one of her own. Chaves goes to the body with a kick, and Duben catches it, but can’t trip out the plant leg. The fight stays standing, and now they’re trading punches. Duben shoots in for a takedown and gets Chaves to the mat, but only for a second. They stay clinched along the fence, wrestling for position. Chaves frames and offers an elbow on the exit. Chaves slaps with a leg kick. They clash as both look to land kicks simultaneously. Both step in with punches, creating another crashing moment. Chaves swings wide with a two-punch combo. Duben lands a nice right hand, and Chaves smiles it off. Chaves comes in with two punches. Duben is bleeding underneath her left eye now. Chaves steps in with a tomahawk elbow, getting creative. Duben clinches up, but Chaves lands strikes in close.

Carnelossi presses forward immediately, offering initial punches. There’s a nice leg kick from Carnelossi, too. Another two-punch combo from Carnelossi lands as Souza eats it. Souza comes forward now. She lands a left. Oh! She lights up Carnelossi with a three-punch combo! And a head kick! BANG! Carnelossi is out! What a finish to start the night!
