The National Weather Service’s Fort Worth office issued a severe thunderstorm warning for Dallas and Ellis counties until 9 p.m. A thunderstorm was located over DeSoto and moving northeast at 30 mph.
The weather service warned of 65 mph wind gusts and half-dollar-sized hail. A flash flood warning is in effect until 9:00 p.m. in Denton County.

A flood watch issued by the weather service runs through 4 p.m. Sunday and includes Dallas, Tarrant, Denton and Collin counties. Flooding caused by excessive rainfall remains possible, especially in areas prone to flooding.
Much of western North Texas is under the watch, including areas roughly along and west of Interstate 35. Residents should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to act if flood warnings are issued, according to the weather service.
Sunday could bring more showers and thunderstorms, mainly before 1 p.m., with another chance for storms between 1 and 4 p.m. The chance of rain is 70%.
Sunday will be mostly cloudy, with a high near 91. Heat index values could reach 97. South winds will be 5 to 10 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph.
Rainfall amounts Sunday could range from a tenth to a quarter of an inch, though higher totals are possible in thunderstorms. Rain and storms should gradually taper by Sunday afternoon, with late-day clearing expected.
