Maine couple finds massive, colorful jellyfish washed up on Lincolnville Beach

You never know what sort of wildlife you might find at the beach in Maine. For one couple, it was a massive jellyfish that was almost 5 feet wide.Christopher Mir and his partner, Lisa Utman, came across the colorful lion’s mane jellyfish while they were at Lincolnville Beach.Mir took a photo and a video of Utman standing next to the jellyfish and shared it to Facebook. The video has more than 300,000 views and a number of marine biologists and experts have weighed in about the couple’s find.”Around the edges of it, in the photograph, you can see this bright pink kind of goo at the very edges of it. And apparently that is millions of larvae,” Mir said. “When a jellyfish is beached like that, it will release all these babies, these little larvae, into the next tide.
