PHOENIX — After being closed for nearly five months due to a sale and renovation, iconic central Phoenix steakhouse Durant’s is close to reopening.

But first, they need to hire more than 100 staff members.

The steakhouse, which is located just south of Central Avenue and Thomas Road, closed in February after being sold to Mike and Jeff Mastro, their father, Dennis, and their business partner, Scott Trolio.

This group also operates several well-known Valley restaurants, including Steak 44, Ocean 44 and Dominick’s Steakhouse.

Durant’s, which is nearing its 75th anniversary, has been closed while undergoing renovations, which include kitchen upgrades. The ownership group said that the vintage look and feel of the restaurant’s dining room will be preserved.

The reopening date for the restaurant is currently scheduled for Dec. 10, according to Jennifer Sturgeon, the Vice President of Public Relations for J. Moser and Company.

What positions will Durant’s be hiring for?

Durant’s is looking to fill about 135 positions and will host a “hiring camp,” starting Friday.

The event will be held at 2603 N. Central Avenue, just south of Durant’s. It will take place Mondays through Fridays from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. until Aug. 29 or until all the jobs are filled.

Here’s a look at all of the positions the restaurant is hiring for:

  • Servers
  • Bartenders
  • Server assistants
  • Hosts and Hostesses
  • Food runners
  • Line cooks
  • Prep cooks
  • Dishwashers
  • Porters

“As we look to honor the incredible legacy of Durant’s while preparing it for its next 75 years, building an exceptional team is one of the most important steps,” Jeff Mastro said in a press release. “Hiring 135 people is not just an investment in the future of Durant’s — it’s an investment in the local economy and the hospitality community here in Phoenix.”
