A brush fire in Santa Clarita is now a death investigation after firefighters discovered a body after putting out the flames.

Firefighters found the body around 10 p.m. on Tuesday when the Los Angeles County Fire Department responded to a small brush fire along Soledad Canyon Road at Penlon Way.

A spokesperson for the LA County Sheriff’s Department said their deputies were called to help after firefighters found someone dead. 

Investigators and detectives were near the Chuck Pontius Commuter trail Wednesday morning as they looked into what led to the fire.  

Homicide detectives are looking into what led to the discovery.

It is not clear how the fire started or who the person found dead was.
