PHOENIX (AZFamily) — Several freeway and road closures are scheduled in Phoenix and across the East Valley this weekend.
Drivers should plan for delays and consider alternate routes as crews continue pavement improvement and widening projects, according to the Arizona Department of Transportation.
Phoenix
Southbound State Route 51 will be closed between Indian School Road and I-10 from 9 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday, for pavement work.
Southbound on-ramps at Glendale Avenue, Bethany Home Road and Highland Avenue also will be closed.
Drivers should use 7th Street or 24th Street as a detour.
The westbound I-10 on-ramp at 7th Street will also be closed to southbound traffic for maintenance during the same period.
East Valley
In Chandler, eastbound Loop 202 (Santan Freeway) will be closed between Price Road and Arizona Avenue from 10 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday, for a widening project.
The southbound Loop 101 Price Freeway ramps to the eastbound Loop 202 will also be closed.
Drivers can use Chandler Boulevard or Germann Road as alternate routes.
In Gilbert, Lindsay Road will also be closed in both directions at Loop 202 from 10 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday, for the widening project.
Drivers should consider using Germann or Pecos roads to Gilbert Road or Val Vista Drive to travel beyond Loop 202.
In Tempe, northbound Loop 101 (Price Freeway) will be closed between University Drive and Loop 202 Red Mountain Freeway from 9 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday, for pavement improvements.
Alma School Road and McClintock Drive are suggested alternate routes.
In Scottsdale, northbound Loop 101 (Pima Freeway) will be narrowed to two lanes between Shea Boulevard and Princess Drive from 10 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday for pavement work.
Three lanes of southbound Loop 101 also will be closed in the same area, with two lanes open, from 5 a.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday.
Drivers should expect on- and off-ramp closures at times, heavy traffic and extra travel time. They can avoid the restrictions by using I-17 and SR 51 as detours.
