Automation is replacing some positions in CoxHealth’s Revenue Cycle team. The company announced Friday, June 11, that the jobs of 53 staff members (representing about 0.38% of CoxHealth’s workforce) have been impacted by automation.
The employees primarily “worked in roles that involved manual entry for medical coding,” and many are transitioning into new roles with CoxHealth, according to the statement.
“Technology has taken on work that once required significant manual effort, giving our teams more capacity to focus on the people and communities we serve. For CoxHealth to continue delivering on its mission, adopting new technologies, tools, and processes is essential,” the company said.
The company is enhancing its Workforce Transition & Education Investment Program to provide resources to staff members who will not move forward in new roles at CoxHealth, such as financial assistance and career transition support, the release states.
When asked how many of the 53 impacted employees would get new jobs at CoxHealth, spokesperson Randy Berger replied, “our HR and leadership teams will be working with affected colleagues, but details are still to be determined.”
The healthcare system also announced it will be partnering with Mostly Serious, a Springfield-based digital services agency, to offer AI training “for team members who are interested in expanding their skill sets.”
Mostly Serious offers training to “take teams from basic AI training all the way through full workflow automation,” according to the agency’s website.
